Caught In The Act By The Guard

jACKSOïf, Mioh., Jan. 17- Howard, Welsch, Murray, Elwood, and Brady, five convicts serving long sentences in the penitentiary here, were caught in a bold at;empt to escape early Friday. The arisoners opened their cells by means of a skeleton key, and taking the iron cots from their cells made a ladder, by which means they reached the roof, and were Doring a hole in it when they were detected by the guard.
