Governor Of New York
David Bennett Hill was bom m Harana, N. Y., Aug. 29. 1843. He obtained an academie education only and studied law in Elmira, where he was ad itted to practica in 1864. When but L1 years oíd he was city attorney. He lias been inany times delégate to Demoocratic state and national conventions. In 1870 and '71 he was elected to the legislatura; in 1882 he was elected mayor of Elmira, and lieutenant governor with Cleveland. In 1885 and 1888 he wu alected governor.
