A Noted Preacher

Robert Collyer was bom in Keighly, Yorkshire, England, Dec. 8, 1823. His education was received at the winter terms at a night school, for at the age of 8 he had to begin hard work, and at 14 he was apprenticed to a blacksmith. Ho educated liimself , however, and gained fame as a Methodist preacher. Coming to the United States he continued to work at his trade and preach on Sunday tül his views underwent a change, and he became a Unitarian. In 1860 he beefan to preach for Unity church, in Chicago. In 1879 he became pastor of the Church of the Messiah, New York city
