During the visit of the University Glee and Banjo Clubs at Jackson ast Saturday, they were invited by he warden of the state prison to ing a few selections for the benefit of the convicts. After orkinwg ïours, all the convicts were asembled in the chapel and the waren addressed them as follows: 'Men," said he, "the Michigan University Glee and Banjo Clubs lave consented to sing a few songs :or your entertainment and I want you to keep quiet." His orders were not necessary, however, for the men showed a marked appreciation :or the privilege granted to them and maintained careful attention luring the hour and a half that the tudents entertained them. Both clubs exhausted their whole reperoire of selections and some of the )ieces called out much enthusiasm rom the listeners. It was a treat that will probably remain a conspicuous landmark in the monotonous existence of the unfortumate inmates. After the concert the clubs visited the various departments of the institution, ending up at the warden's office, where a light lunch was waiting for them . The event was as much a source of pleasure for the students as for the convicts who are indebted to them for their kindness.
