Ernest Strausburger was arrested by Deputy-Sheriff Peterson yesterday, charged with stealing from his employer, Jacob Volland, the harnessmaker. About ten days ago Peterson was set to work on the case. He found that Straussburger had sold sets of harness to Snow and Robison, besides whips and lashes to various other parties about town. Yesterday Peterson went down to Straussberger's house and bought a whip, which had Volland's private mark on, and a strap. He then secured a search warrant, and found in the house a whole new harness, parts of a harness ready to put together, straps, whips, brushes, curry combs, buckles and other articles. When taken to jail he said he wasn't getting good pay, and took that way of getting it. He is a man with a family.
