Chicago, March 4.- The employés of the freight car shops at Pullman are on a strike against a redaction, and the situation is so critical that pólice protection has been applied for. The men are not members of any unión, but they have adopted unión tactics, and picketed the railway station and car shops. These pickets tackle every man arriving who looks like a workman, and generally persuade them to stay away, and it is to prevent this that the pólice are wanted.
