President Howlett was the only member of the council absent last evening, when the clerk called the meeting to order, and Aid. Miller was put in the chair. The treasurers annual report was read and will appear in the proceedings in Friday's issue. The committee on licenses reported against an ordinance licensing teamsters. Sidewalks were ordered built on the east and west side of Fifth street, f rom Jefferson to Madison; in front of Hallocks property on Packard street, on the east side of Traver street to the north line of Eli Manly's property; in front of Kitson estáte on Catherine street; in front of the Antón Eisele estáte on Spring street. Aid. O'Mara, Walker and Dieterle were appointed a comfnittee of three to act with the Board of Public Works in the Nowland matter. Aids. Hall, Taylor and Herz were appointed a committee to confer with the University authorities, in regard to free beds for the city's patients in the hospital. The railroad commissioner was requested to notify the "Ann Arbor road ' ' to abate the nuisance of blocking the streets which they cross in the city. Aid. Martin had seen a street blocked for nearly half an hour, children and grown persons going under the cars to cross. Aid'. Herz also reported long blocking of streets. Aid. Walker moved as an amendment that the Marshal be also instructed to arrest trainrnen who blockaded the streets. The resolution and amendment were carried.
