This solid bed of Gloriosa Daises, most of them 56 inches tall in deep shades of yellow and brown, bank the front of her Pittsfield Village home. A close up of the 5 1/2 inch diameter flower is at right. Mrs. Keppler varies the color with white shasta daisies, double purple and pink cone flower daises and yellow sunburst coreopis of the same family. These are of similar heights. Cool June temperatures keep the perennials from wilting, she says. She used no fertilizer.

The 1968 Detroit Tigers had their counterpart at Michigan's IM Building today as hundreds of students, many of whom had waited through the night, lined up to purchase Michigan football tickets. Ticket distribution of student season tickets will continue Monday, Tuesday, and be completed Wednesday of next week. The first Michigan home game of the season is scheduled for Sept. 20 against Vanderbilt, an up-and-coming team from the Southeastern Conference.

McCormack Jr., 20, of Chicago, III., was ticketed for careless driving last night after his speeding car jumped a curb on Avon Rd. near Devonshire Rd. and sped 510 feet across lawns and driveways before returning to the road and stopping. During the ride, the car swept between the telephone pole and pine tree shown in the foreground and barely missed two parked cars. McCormack declined medical treatment for bruises.

In the background, along East Huron Street, we glimpse the construction in progress on a new Michigan Bell Telephone Co. switching building, between the Ann Arbor News parking lot on the left, and the A&P Cleaners on the right (the former Packers Outlet grocery store). The Sinclair gas station on the corner became a car stereo store, and was demolished many years ago.
