It's called a Big Boy tomato plant and no one has questioned the title. Harold Bissell of 2644 Elmwood says his crop has numbered 66 so far. He set out the young plant by the trellis after the last frost--mid to late May--in soil which he had mixed with fertilizer ("the kind that smells like the dickens") himself. He and his wife returned from a trip in August to find the leaves all dried and curled, but a good watering revitalized it. Bissell says he chose this semi-beefsteak variety not for its volume of produce but because it was the least acid.
