The building, scheduled for completion in September, will include 143 apartments designed for persons 62 and older, a dining room and men's club on the upper level and a wide variety of special-purpose rooms devoted to hobbies and recreation. A grocery cart and the building elevator help ease the chore of delivering papers to 84 customers in the eight-story senior citizens housing project. Mrs. Noble, who is separated in age by more than half a century from the average newsboy -- she declined to reveal her exact age -- has been a resident of Ann Arbor since 1938 and live in Saline and North Dakota before that.

Pouring Sixth Level: The sixth level of the eight-story Lurie Terrace of 600 W. Huron is now being poured as the project moves closer to scheduled September completion. Lurie Terrace is a 143-unit apartment building for persons 62 and older, which will contain a dining room and men's club on the eighth level, besides gathering rooms on each floor. The facility will have a conservatory-type of greenhouse, music, arts and crafts rooms, library and other special usage rooms now being planned. Several hundred persons have applied to live in Lurie Terrace, it was announced. Application can still be made by writing to Lurie Terrace, 600 W. Huron, Ann Arbor. Prospective tenants will be interviewed "in the near future" a spokesman said. Senior Citizens Housing of Ann Arbor, Inc., will operate the apartment building.

Everest in May, are shown here at the home of Dingman's parents, 1029 Chestnut Rd. Tensing is one of 37 Sherpas (literally, "men from the East") who teamed with Americans for the rugges climb. He underwent eye surgery yesterday at St. Joseph Hospital for an injury sustained when gored by a yak as a boy. Dingman was one of three physicians who attempted to scale the 29,028-foot Himalayan peak. Dingman is a son of Dr. and Mrs. Reed O. Dingman, 1029 Chestnut Rd.

One of yesteryear's great players in the world of tennis spent a day in Ann Arbor last weekend. Debonaire Jean Rene Lacoste (left), the Frenchman who rose to fame on the courts of the 1920s, was in town to visit the Bendix Corp. Lacoste won the United States men's singles championship in 1926, defeating Jean Borotra in the final match, and he beat the great Bill Tilden to win the title again in 1927. He was British men's singles champion in 1925, after outplaying Henri Cochet. Lacoste is head of the Air Equipment Co. in France and he now lives outside Paris. he brought a new steel tennis racket to the United States to be tested. here, he conferred with Dr. O. Lyle Tiffany, chief scientist at the Bendix Systems Division about his interests in the space and meteorology programs with which his company is working. Lacoste's son, Michel, is accompanying him on the trip.

David Sellards, all sons of Grandpa, and Mickey Sager, a grandson. Also featured in the play is the water cooler held by Sellards. Supposedly filled with wine in the play, the cooler was found in Dexter and is believed to one of the few still around. "Happy Time" opens tomorrow night at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater and continues through Saturday.

PLYMOUTH RD. RINK TERMED INADEQUATE: Residents of the north side, as represented by the Northside Civic Association, want better ice skating facilities for their children. In a petition to the city council, the association said the present Plymouth Rd. pond (shown above in use by scores of youngsters) is too small, has no shelter or supervision and is dangerous because of the proximity of the trunkline US-12 highway. The north siders want an artificial rink put into use at the new North Side school. (Story on page 3.)
