New Courthouse From Air: Only fliers (and possibly the pigeons that infest downtown Ann Arbor) see Washtenaw county's new Courthouse from this angle. News Photographer Dale Fisher snapped the picture from an airplane as he flew over the building, approaching from the E. Huron St. side. Note how the new Courthouse surrounds the old one on three sides. Persons acquainted with downtown Ann Arbor will be able to pick out many other familiar landmarks. The Courthouse is scheduled to be dedicated this summer. The old building will be torn down.

Allmendinger Airview: From the air, skaters at the Allmendinger Park ice rink look about as big as ants, but it's pretty certain they are having a life-size good time. This view is looking east toward Edgewood Ave. Note pattern of tracks in snow around rink -- automobile, footprints and sleds, indicating lots of traffic to and from the rink. The current cold wave has kept the ice in the city's five outdoor rinks in good condition. Other rinks are at Burns, West, Northside School and Summit St.

Artist's Touch on North Side: This striking aerial photograph by Dale Fisher, taken on Ann Arbor's north side, has a certain purposeful artistry about it, as the sweeping lines of rivers, railroads and highways combine with other features -- natural and man-made -- into an eye-catching design. Curving from left to right across the picture are the double tracks of the New York Central. Immediately above them is N. Main St. The Ann Arbor Railroad intersects both after crossing the river just to the right of Argo Dam. The tanks in lower left belong to the Michigan Consolidated Gas. Co.
