War Dead List Grows Carl A. Heldt, director of the county office of veterans affairs, looks at the growing list of Washtenaw County men killed in Vietnam. Twelve names have recently been added to the Vietnam-Korea memorial plaque in the south lobby of the county building. They are: Eugene R. Suarez, Neil Stehle, Gary Shepperdson, Richard M. O'Neal, Charles Miller, Charles P. Brown, and George V. Airey, all of Ann Arbor; James Bryan, Milan; James L. McIlvoy, South Lyon; Russell Michalke, Saline; and Larry Adams, Ypsilanti. More names are still to be added.

During World War II, Camp McCoy was used as a training facility for units from across the United States that were preparing to enter combat in World War II. The post was also used as a Prisoner Of War (POW) camp during the conflict.

This huge burr oak tree, estimated to be 100 years old, was one of many damaged or toppled by heavy winds Sunday morning. Limbs from this tree located at Third and Mosley, blocked Mosley yesterday. City crews were still cleaning up the debris left in the wake of the storm.

Just visible above the branches of a large box elder tree, toppled in yesterday's brief but furious storm, is the top of the second story of Mrs. Ernest Marquardt's home at 3302 Rosedale. No windows were broken, however, as the tree crashed toward a side of the house. No one was injured. Weather story appears on Page 17.

Twenty-one young men boarded a bus at the city bus station early this morning to answer the November draft call for Washtenaw County. They were taken to Ft. Wayne in Detroit, where they will be processed and sent to basic training camps in various parts of the United States. The November call nationally was the largest since the early days of the Korean War, but was smaller in the county than the October quota of 36. December's call is 18.
