Symphonic Arrangement "Dominant Symphony" is the title of this unusual arrangement of Mary Varnedoe's and a picture of it will be featured on the cover of the National Council of Federated Garden Clubs' calendar. According to Mrs. Varnedoe, the arrangement portrays the rhythm and beauty essential to music. The state convention was held on the University campus yesterday and Tuesday.

SHRINE RISES ABOVE DEXTER CHURCHYARD: A beautiful stone grotto, dedicated to "Our Lady of Lourdes" and a memorial to the dead of St. Joseph's parish in Dexter, has been erected on St. Joseph's church grounds under the supervision of Rev. Charles T. Walsh, pastor. The shrine is of field stone, and the two statues are of Carrara marble, imported from Carrara, Italy, the largest weighing 1100 pounds. The grotto will be illuminated at night.

Above is an actual picture of the new model "Porta-Bilt" kitchen recently completed at Stanger Furniture store. The range is a Westinghouse Deluxe model equipped with the famous Corox Economizer units, warming oven, extra large oven, automatic clock, minute minder, light, etc. The refrigerator also Westinghouse, is equipped with the new meat keeper. The cabinets are adaptable to any size kitchen. The counter, or sink top, is covered with Armstrong linoleum that has been treated with a special acid and heat-proof preparation. The exposed wall beneath the cabinets is covered with linoleum of harmonizing colors.

NOVEL ICE CREAM DELIVERY: Replacing the horse-drawn ice cream wagons of former years, a fleet of four bicycle ice cream carriers has been put in service by the Wurster Dairy Co. here. Three (pictured above) will have regular routes in Ann Arbor while the fourth will be stationed at Whitmore Lake. Equipped with dry ice-cooled refrigerator units, the vehicles have a capacity of 500 ice cream confections but also will carry regular pint packages of ice cream.

Wurster Dairy Co. Inc., Karl F. C. Wurster, President, Marvin D. Scott, Vice President, Hubert Thompson, Secretary, Mrs. Lillian Heusel, Treasurer. The Wurster ice cream boys are on Broadway, in front of the Wurster Dairy (which became the Cloverleaf Dairy, then the Cloverleaf Restaurant, and is now the Northside Grill.) The very old buildings of the "Huron Block" behind them were on the other side of Broadway, and all got demolished in 1957. In the background is the old Broadway Bridge, which was replaced in a massive project completed in 2004. - Wystan Stevens
