Washtenaw County provides Restaurant Inspection Reports for local restaurants, bars, night clubs, school cafeterias and more. Then you can check out the restaurants section at Arbor Web and leave those pots and pans for another night.

Who You Gonna Call? 211

Beginning November 1, 2006, residents of Washtenaw, Livingston and Monroe counties will have one phone number to call – 211 -- for easy access to community services. Whether it’s helping with basic needs like food, shelter or rent assistance, employment services, help with child care, respite care, disaster relief or hundreds of other services vital to your well-being, 211 will direct you to the right agency. Use a land line, cellphone or a pay phone to make this toll-free call.

Passport Preparation Time

If you're planning a trip outside the U.S. after January 7, 2007 that includes re-entry through an airport or seaport, remember that U.S. citizens will need a passport for travel to and from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean. This new rule could mean a 6 – 12 week processing wait so start your preparation now.
You can pick up an Application for Passport, Passport Renewal and other forms at all U.S. Post Offices. The post offices at 2075 W Stadium Blvd and 3000 Green Road will accept your applications Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Detailed information on passports is available from the U.S. State Department.

The Library's CPI Table

The Consumer Price Index [CPI], published by the United States Department of Labor, is the most widely used measure of price changes and inflation. It represents a weighted index of a fixed market basket of goods and services and is published monthly for the Unites States and bi-monthly for the Detroit-Ann Arbor Area. There's a lot more information about the CPI at the government's Bureau of Labor Statistics website. For your convenience, the format of the CPI table on the AADL website enables users to compare price changes over a ten-year period in an easy-to-use one-page format.
