aadlfreespace is free!

Looking for a place to have a small meeting and can't afford to rent a room? Check out the aadlfreespace on the 3rd floor of the Downtown Library. It holds up to 32 people. You can reserve this room for meetings for free up to four times in a calendar year and make your reservations on line. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. You will need an AADL library card to make the reservation. Date availability is shown as well on line. Can't get to a computer? Call 734-327-8323 to make your reservation.

That 90% of Tree Town residents surveyed in 2007 rated Ann Arbor's quality of life excellent or good. Results on safety, city services, priorities and more are available online. You can watch replays of the presentation of the survey on CTN Channel 16 throughout April and May.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Town Hall Meetings

The City of Ann Arbor invites the public to review and discuss Ann Arbor’s proposed 2007-2008 municipal budget at two upcoming Town Hall Meetings. The meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4th, at Clague Middle School and Thursday, April 5th, at Slauson Middle School.

Thinking of starting a business? Get help from SBTDC

If you're thinking of starting your own business and are looking for information, counseling, resources and other help the Michigan Small Business & Technology Development Center is a great place to start. The organization has local offices in Ypsilanti and at Washtenaw Community College. Their knowledgable staff presents regular workshops on starting a business called 'Vision to Reality' at several area locations (on Tuesday, April 3rd from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce, 425 S. Main St. and on Tuesday, April 17th from 3:00 to 5:30 pm at the Ypsilanti Area Chamber of Commerce. 301 W. Michigan Avenue). There is a $30 fee. Public Open House on Downtown Parking

Stand up (or sit down) and be heard on the future of public parking in downtown Ann Arbor. The public open house will be held Thursday, March 29, 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., 2nd floor, City Hall. City officials are working to develop a long-term parking and access strategy and your ideas and recommendations will greatly enhance the process.

The City's Municipal Compost Center is expanding hours to include Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon during gardening season.

Slowing Food, Trading Seeds

Slow Food Huron Valley is gearing up for spring events promoting locally produced foods and sustainable agriculture. On April 12 there is a membership meeting and Michigan cheese tasting. The library has lots of resources on slow food, including the book Slow Food: The case for taste. Keep an eye out this Saturday March 24 for the second annual Project Grow Seed Swap from 10 a.m. to noon at the Leslie Science Center, 1831 Traver Road in Ann Arbor. Even if you don’t swap seeds, you are welcome at this event and people will help you get started.

Here We Go Round the Roundabout

The City of Ann Arbor is hosting a public workshop on Thursday, March 22, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to discuss improvements to the Huron Parkway/Nixon Road intersection. The workshop will be held in the Community Room at Parkway Meadows, 2575 Sandalwood Circle. The City will provide information on the proposed roundabout and take questions and comments from the public. For more information on the meeting, call 734.994.6087.
