The University of Michigan Health System will be hosting a job fair on Thursday, July 9 from 9:00 am to noon at Washtenaw County Michigan Works! They will be seeking both entry level and experienced candidates to fill a variety of openings including environmental services, material services, laundry services, maintenance, patient care tech and more. Whether you are an intern, new hire, mid-career, manager, executive or nearly retired, this group will provide support from others who share your struggles. The group meets every Tuesday from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in Conference Room B of the Center for Independent Living. This Friday, May 15, join the Ann Arbor Area Business Leadership Network (A3BLN), hosted this month by the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living and Washtenaw Community College Human Resources, for the unique opportunity to learn from employers & employees about ways to improve work opportunities for people with disabilities.
A panel of employers and employees from NuStep, Select Ride, and the University of Michigan will discuss the benefits of a diversified workforce. Sessions will be lead by human resources, legal and advocacy experts sharing their views regarding hiring persons with disabilities and ADA accommodations in the workplace.

Location: WCC Morris Lawrence auditorium, 4800 E. Huron River Drive
This event is open to all business leaders, employers & current or potential employees with disabilities. There is no fee to attend, but registration is required- the first 100 registrants will receive a complimentary lunch!

The new Volunteer Center is now open at www.VolunteerWashtenaw.org! This virtual Volunteer Center will connect people interested in volunteering with local nonprofits that rely on volunteers to achieve their mission. More than 65 agencies have listed more than 160 needs and counting on the new site. The site will accommodate individuals as well as groups, and will be provided at no cost.
The new Volunteer Center website makes it easy for people to find opportunities to serve. At the new VolunteerWashtenaw.org, volunteers can:
·Search the volunteer needs by scrolling through the full list or you can narrow it down to suit your preferences; key word search, interest area categories (such as education or senior citizens), by court-ordered appropriate, activity type (such as construction or mentoring), one-time needs, ongoing needs, group opportunities, distance, date, and more.
·Explore agencies that are doing amazing work in our community, from human services to animals to the environment to the arts. Learn more about what they do, where they're located and what needs they have.
·Easily sign-up for volunteer opportunities online.
·Become a fan of agencies or update interests in their profiles to receive notifications of new volunteer needs.
·Invite and register a group for a volunteer opportunity.
·Log volunteer hours to keep track of work for school or civic resume
·Share opportunities via email or social media at the click of a button.
