A State Convention was held, July 1, to nominale a candidato for Governor. The numbcr and zeal of those who attendeá are said to have far exceeded (he expectations of the most sanguine. Jeremiah CurtÃs, was designated as the candidate of the libeity party. In his reply to the Commiitee who notified him of his norainalion, Mr. Curtis says: "The ultÃmate success of our cause is ccrtai'i, howcver oim present effirts may oe regarded by our opponents.
