Distillery Burnt
The large dlstülery in our viüage belong ing to Mr.Klinedob was consumed by fire on the evcning of the I3th inst. Loss estimas ted at about seveh thousand dollars - no insurance. However much we may feel disposed to sytopathise wih Mr.Klioedob in consequence of the individual loss he has sustaincd, yet we are of the opinión that distillcries generally are a public nuisance, in their very nature and tendencias calculated to injure rath er than benefit society. And subscribing as we do to the old adage that "better one 6uf fer than many," we are on the whole compelled to look upo n the accidental burning of this orany otlior distillery, as a mercifu visiUtion. Tt is better far better that poUon in the shape of Brandy, Rum, Gin, Beer, Whiskey kc, be given to the Sames, than be sen abroad as a beverage, to produced poverty dissensions, wretchedness and death, among mankind .
