On the morning ofthö lltliinst. at his residence in Southfield OaklandCo. Mich. Pitts Phillip­s, Esq. He has left a wife and daughter, an only child, and a numerous circlo of friends and relatives to mourn his loss. In liim is lost a tender husband and father, and a devoted friend of universal liberty. Ho was ever ready to go any lengtha injusüceand truth to uestroy slavery where ever it exists, and in himthe slave has lost a great and bold and fearless defender of his rights in this part of the country. He was not an open professor of religión, yet we are not without hopes ot his happiness. He was a zealous friend to good order and reii- gious freedom.- Communicated,
