Cleveland, addressed to thc Govcrnor ot Maryland, wo learn that tlie npplication rocontly niado for Torrov's release, based on tho condition of compensation to the elaveholders, is now ontirely withdrawn. The reasons given for this, are, that Mr. Torrey's liealtli is so prostrated as not to warrant tho hopo of hts surviving niany weeks, even if set at liberty, and that his friends do not fcel authorized to oxpend a sum so largo, nnd which might be so mucli Ketter bestowed for tho poor privilege of having hirn dic in the bosom of his family; desi rabie os such a privilege ccrtainly is. Mr. Torrey, ve uniíerslnnd, entirely acquieáces iri ihe nction of his friónds.
