The salary of the Librarían is unknown to us - probably from L2,000 to 83,000 a year. That of the Messenger is $700. Thus one officcr of the government owned ariother - nnd the salary of the Messenger was paid, not to the öflïcer but to the ownerof the officer! - Watterston was, and probably is, a Whig!
