Our readers will remembcr that a charter was fratned by the Legislature for a Soutliern Railroad Company, to become operanve only in ca.-e of the sale of the Centrnl RnProntl. We learn from the Detroit papers that the first payment has been made by the Southern Company, so that botli roads are sold. It is a fine thing for the State that they are so well disposed óf. Or3" John Quincy Adams has been again nominaled for Congiess from his District. Tho o!d gentleman has many ' admirable and excellent traits of character, in his principies, feeling.s, and habits, but he belongs to the generation that is past, and is scarcely fitted to take a j very active part in the reform movemenls J of the day. It is said that with all his eccentricities he sets a noble example to our public men in one respect - he is ! uncxieptionable in his moral character.
