Jan. 12. The joint resolution of Gen. Schnarz on the EX1SÃING WAR WITH MEXICO, which makes an additional appropriation of $5,000, was taken up and aftersome discussion, PASSED. Mr. Dentón gave notice of a bilà to incorpórate the Macomb County Mutua] Insurance Cumpany. Mr. Mack offered a resolution that the internal improvement committee inquire into the expediency of providing by law for the sale of the unapproprioted lands granted to this State by Congress, and of applying the proceeds to the payment of interest on the inlernal improvement debt. In the House, a pelition was presented from Senator McCamly and others, relalive to a Plank Road lrom Battle Creek lo Michigan. Jan. 13. The Senate then proceeded to the election of dChaplain, which resulted in the choiceofthe Rev. James Shaw, of the Methodist denomination. The votestood 15 to 6 lor others - Senator Griswold voting for Rt. Rev. Bishop McCoskry. Senator Thompson introduced a bilà to increase the number of masters in chancery in the several counties. Senator McCabe introduced a bilà to amend chapter 123 of the statutes, relativeto proceedings to recover the possession of lands in certain cases. Senator Sinclair introduced a bilà to amend chapter 93 tille 21 of the statutes. The bill to change the name of Pewonagawink has passed both houses. Mr. Burnett offered a resolution instructing the committee on the judiciary to nquire into the expediency of restoring he garnishee law, as is contemplated in hesession lawsof 1841, with such amendment ns they may think the public good equires.
