OWNER WAS ON WAY NORTH TO HUNT DEER: This offers a striking picture of the greeting given hunters this week when they reached Mackinaw City headed for the Upper Peninsula. This car belonged to a hunter who was forced to remain in Mackinaw City when high seas and a blizzard resulted in a suspension of ferry service until 10 o'clock last night.

BLIZZARD, COLD WEATHER, LACK OF FERRY SERVICE HANDICAP HUNTERS: Deer hunters from all over lower Michigan, bound for the upper peninsula for the opening of the hunting season Friday, ran into many difficulties as they reached Mackinaw City. The storm which swept the north caused suspension of ferry service for many hours and more than 500 cars were stranded in Mackinaw City as the blizzard raged. Here are a few of the cars with their owners obviously showing the difficulties which beset them. This picture was taken yesterday afternoon as the cars were lined up waiting at the ferry dock.

DEER HUNTERS MAROONED AT STRAITS: Taken yesterday afternoon from the deck of the ferry "Straits of Mackinac" at Mackinaw City, this picture, snapped during poor visibility due to a blizzard, shows some of the 500 cars of deer-hunters held on this side of the straits on their way to the Upper Peninsula. Heavy seas and a blinding snowstorm combined to hold all ferries in port until 10 o'clock last night and this was supplemented by lack of electricity to operate the hydraulic hoists to load cars in the ferries. State highway department officials announced today that the ferries now were being operated as rapidly as possible to move the hunters across to St. Ignace, in order that they may reach their destinations and be ready to look for deer by the opening of the season on Friday.
