In this episode AADL Talks to Steve Vangelatos, owner (since 1980) of Ann Arbor’s long-running and beloved Angelo’s restaurant, which was opened by his father, Angelo Vangelatos, in 1956 and closed in December 2023 after 67 years in business. STRANGE TRAVELERS ON MAIN STREET: Happily accompanied by a friendly dog, plus assorted handlers dressed in clown costumes, is this huge and fearsome dragon. Some mothers who did not do some preliminary explaining about the Michigras parade soon found that they had a crying child or children on their hands, because of the impressive fantasy of the large rubber figures.

NEW STREET LIGHTS: This new 1,000-watt, color corrected, mercury vapor light at Liberty and Main Sts. is one of three installed downtown on a trial basis by Detroit Edison. The lights will give city officials, businessmen and residents an opportunity to judge their value while Edison is making a free study of street lighting needs downtown. The results of the study and reaction to the three lights now installed will help determine whether the City Council will order wide-spread use of the lights in the business area.
