A 'SLEEVO' IN THE MAKING: Walter Ernst, owner of the Michigan Neon Co., holds a negative in the firm's darkroom. The advertiser's name and slogan is photographed on this sensitized plastic and made into a sleeve to slip over a neon light. "Sleevo" is the name of the type of sign.

MAJOR ALTERATION: This sign, formerly used by an automobile factory, is being re-designed for another customer. Lettering is being done by Robert Taylor. Alterations, such as these, constitute one phase of this industry's activity. This work is done on the ground floor. This area also serves as a shipping room.

COMPLETE FABRICATION: The entire sign is manufactured at the Michigan Neon Co. Fabrication of metal parts is an integral part though it is not unlike work in many factories. One would never suspect that this part being drilled by employe Merle Blackwell will soon become part of a glittering sign.
