The Jones School was awarded first place in Class E for the most attractive institutional premises, winning over several churches which made favorable impressions of the judges. They said the school with its spacious front lawn was a fine example of good design, with a simple, straight-forward treatment, well-maintained.

Yarnell, 1435 Broadway, were said by the judges to have one of the best front yard arrangements and perhaps one of the best house settings in the city. A balanced though unsymmetrical backyard garden also drew praise.
