FORTY YEARS RECALLED: It was Louis Elbel himself who led the Michigan Varsity band in "The Victors" between halves of the Chicago game Saturday. Mr. Elbel wrote "The Victors" as a University student in a burst of inspiration following a Michigan victory over Chicago on Thanksgiving Day, 1898. The 40th anniversary of Michigan's ascendency to power in midwestern football was suitably observed on the football field as well Saturday.
