40 Years Of Service Noted - Ann Arbor Police Department Sgt. Herb Kapp, who joined the local force before Michigan Coach Bump Elliott made it to first grade, sits in the specially-decorated traffic control box at the intersection of Stadium and S. Main St. before yesterday's game traffic began. The sergeant has directed traffic around Michigan Stadium through four decades of football, and to mark his 40th anniversary department painters went to work and noted Kapp's Record years of service.

25 Years In Police Work: Police Chief Rolland J. Gainsley (center) helped two fellow Police Department officials observe their 25th years in local police work yesterday at a fete in City Hall. The two are Capt. Henry G. Murray (left), who is in charge of the uniformed and traffic division, and Deputy Police Chief Walter E. Krasny who is administrative officer of all Police Department operations. The two are holding plaques containing 25 silver dollars -- one for each of their 25 years of service. Each was also given a 25th anniversary badge with his name engraved on it.

The Democratic Women's Club celebrated its 15th anniversary yesterday, and Malcolm Dade, deputy chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party, was guest speaker for the observance at the Ann Arbor Community Center. Here Mrs. John B. Lansing (left) and Mrs. F. A. Filie, the club's first two presidents, show Mr. Dade a scrapbook recording the 15 years. At the meeting Mrs. John E. Parker was re-elected president. Serving with her are Mrs. Robert J. Harris, vice president; Mrs. Frederick L. McDonald, secretary; and Mrs. Russell Sansbury, treasurer.
