FATAL CRASH: A 23-year-old Benton Harbor mother, Mrs. Virginia I. McCarty, was fatally injured when her car (shown at the top after the collision) skidded on US-12 near Zeeb Rd. yesterday noon and hit a big semi-trailer truck. Her three-month-old daughter, Patricia Jean, received minor injuries. Mrs. McCarty was driving west when her car slid on an icy patch. The truck, being driven by Frank W. Martin of Nashville, Tenn., was headed east. Martin and a helper were unhurt. Mrs. McCarty first was listed by sheriff's officers as Mrs. Virginia Stem of Detroit because her driver's license had not been changed since her marriage. The baby's basket is in the rear seat.
