NEW PRESIDENT SWINGS NEW GAVEL: George W. Sallade, newly elected president of Ann Arbor's City Council, gets the first meeting of the new council underway by rapping for order with a brand new gavel. The old gavel was presented to Cecil O. Creal at a civic banquet in his honor shortly before his retirement as council president. Creal served in the post for eight years.

The 12-year-old murder remains a mystery to this day. In February 1976 Peter Kensler a Manchester attorney walked into his front yard to meet someone who had turned into his driveway. The house where the murder took place sits in a wooded area off Sharon Valley Road. Kensler's body was found by his sister and his secretary.
