EAGER FOR COON HUNTING SEASON TO OPEN: Donald Stuart of Stony Creek is shown here with his coon dog, Flying Coin, A. K. C. tree champion at the Leafy Oak National Pup derby held at Kenton, O. Stuart is shown holding the trophy won by Flying Coin in competition with 150 other entrants at Kenton. In addition to his national title, Flying Coin has won several field trials in Michigan. The 15-month-old dog was raised by Donald Stuart and his brother, Kenneth of Wayne. When the coon hunting season opens Nov. 1, Flying Coin will get a chance to prove himself a national champion.

SHOWS MALE HUNTERS HOW: Deer-hunting, with the test it imposes on endurance and skill is usually considered a sport for men only but Mrs. Wanda Walker, 1142 Catherine St., disproved this theory last week when she invaded the wilds of Drummer island and shot the fine buck shown on the right in the above picture. To make her feat more unusual, Mrs. Walker shot the deer on the first day of the season, Nov. 13.

Mr. Spring shot the three-point buck near Hillman, Mich. last Monday - the first day of the deer-hunting season.
