Deacon Richard Garland, along with Kendall Tucker, holding lantern, walk in the 7th annual Unity March that brought out about 400 participants. The march began at the Washtenaw County building in downtown Ann Arbor and ended at Second Baptist Church on 850 Red Oak in Ann Arbor.

Neal and Marilyn Schroeder of Ann Arbor designed the Bicentennial banner on display at Darlington Lutheran Church, located at 3545 Packard Rd. It is "designed to show the blessed relationship between the church and state in America," said the Rev. Greg Lenz, pastor of the church. It will hang through July 4, he said.

CLEANUP FESTIVAL SCENE: A city worker's 2 1/2-hour effort in painting this "Keep Ann Arbor Beautiful Festival" sign was nearly nullified by yesterday's wind. The sign "keyed-in" a city-sponsored Cleanup, Paintup, Fixup display on City Hall grounds and terrace yesterday. The display of city equipment used to improve and maintain city lands and help keep the city clean drew about 500 persons. Persons at the festival also saw merchant-sponsored displays on the terrace, which were related to the theme.
