Who Has A Parking Problem?: Ann Arbor motorists who complain about the lack of parking spaces in the city have little support for their argument in this picture. Taken in the 300 block of E. Huron St. at 4:45 p.m. yesterday, the picture shows a string of vacant parking places on the south side of E. Huron St. It's by no means a typical sight, however.

SIGNAL TERMED INADEQUATE: This grade crossing at the intersection of Summit and the Ann Arbor Railroad tracks has been termed worn out, obsolete, subject to breakdowns and difficult to see in bad weather by Parking and Traffic Department Supt. Theodore W. Vanderstempel. The City Council currently is considering an offer by the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad to split the cost on installing improved overhead signals. Councilmen were told the city must pay half because Wildt and Hiscock Streets run parallel to the tracks and enter at Summit near the crossing, thus requiring signals for these streets as well as Summit. No action date has been set.

New Quarters: This is a view of the new office space for the Ann Arbor Traffic Violations Bureau which moved form the basement of City Hall to the municipal court office today. The bureau was formerly operated by the Ann Arbor Police Department but in July, 1955, Judge Francis L. O'Brien's municipal court assumed jurisdiction of the bureau. Bureau clerks and municipal court workers now share the large renovated office area shown above in the Municipal Court Building on W. Huron St.

Somebody's talent for misspelling turned up again on N. Forest Ave. where new parking meter signs announce that "one penney" is required. The extra vowel appears in both of two signs in the block-long area, indicating at least a certain consistency of error. The meters in question are unique in Ann Arbor in that they are the only ones which will not accept nickels under any condition.
