NEW CROP OF FLANKERS: Heavy graduation losses and early injuries this season cut sharply into Ann Arbor High's supply of varsity ends in football. But rapid development of this trio is helping to remedy the situation. From left are Jim Turner, Lot Fonville and Herb Williams, all of whom will see considerable action along with the starting left flanker, Bill Halliday, in Friday's game at Flint. Turner, a 5-foot 9-inch 164-pounder, made his first varsity start a good one last week. Fonville, 5-10 and 167 pounds and, like Turner, a junior, has proved capable, especially on defense. Williams, a sophomore who stands 5 feet 8 inches and wights 159, appears to have everything it takes to become outstanding.

AFTER SOME SCALPS: Flint Central's Indians are the target for this trio of Ann Arbor High backfielders this week. From left are Fullback Bob Sinanian, Wingback Jim Turner, and Fullback Gerald Williams. Each has scored a touchdown this season--Sinanian on a 90-yard scamper at Wayne, Turner on a 12-yard run at Wayne, and Williams on a 31-yard return of an intercepted pass against Kalamazoo. The three senior lettermen carry a total of almost 500 pounds with the 5-foot 7-inch Sinanian going 154, the 5-10 Turner 161, and the 5-9 Williams 177. All will be busy on Hollway Field Friday night.

TURNER TURNS IT ON: Ann Arbor High Wingback Jim Turner hasn't always enjoyed good luck with the spinner-handoff reverse this season but he and his helpers made it work for a 50-yard touchdown run in the third period last night. Here the Pioneer halfback is just getting into full stride as Battle Creek's John Keagle makes an ineffective lunge in his direction. Turner was helped later by Garland Cobb's key block.
