The response has been staggering. Heusel's station on Packard Road is stacked with some 200 stuffed bears and other animals of all shapes and sizes. The station's goal is to have 300 teddy bears by Dec. 18.

Heusel gets his letter: WAAM radio personality Ted Heusel gets his basketball letter from Eastern Athletic Director Gene Smith in a surprise presentation. No, Heusel hasn't suddenly gone out for college sports! He earned the letter way back in 1945, when Eastern was called Michigan Normal College. But he never got his letter, apparently in part because Elton Rynearson, who coached all the school's teams at the time, left in mid season (the team finished with a 0-11 record). Also it seemed letters weren't always given out back then because of the war. Well, better late than never, said a happy Heusel.
