Campus Police Unit Begins Work - The newly-formed University Unit of the Ann Arbor Police Department officially launched its operation today with Capt. Kenneth B. Klinge, right, and Staff Sgt. Harold Rady, left, in command. Patrolmen Robert Flynn, beside Rady, and William Deneau, driver's side, are among the 18 patrolmen assigned to the unit along with three detectives and three command officers. The platoon will provide all police services for the campus and by Oct. 1 the full 24-member complement of the unit is scheduled to be filled. (News photo by Cecil Lockard)

Krasny, (second from left) and Staff Sgt. Richard G. Hill. Kling is the new head of the University Unit, a 23-man city police force which is assigned permanently to the campus. Sgt. Hill will be Klinge's assistant and Sgt. Rady is to take over the Police-Community Relations Unit formerly directed by Klinge. The first patron assigned to the unit was dispatched yesterday.
