Staudenmaier, Intelligence Division, and Robert Whitaker, Research and Records Division head. Also promoted to major was Walter V. Down The Drain - Yesterday was liquor disposal day at the Ann Arbor Police Department. Three rubbish barrels jammed with beer and whiskey, confiscated in criminal cases, were hauled to a sewer drain. Each can and bottle was carefully opened by Uniformed Lt. Robert Whitaker, (left) and Police Cadet Melvin Roper who poured the contents into the drain. An investigator from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission was present for the disposal procedure.
