In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts like those of Proteus in "Two Gentlemen of Verona," which will be staged by Play Production at the Mendelssohn theater starting tomorrow night. Proteus (left), played by Karl Klauser, Gates Mills, O., is wooing Silvia, in the person of Miriam Brous, New York City, while Speed, the comic servant (James W. Moll, Toledo), looks on.

Matt Cooper (left) is Caliban, Diedre Orquist is Ariel and Will Cares is Prospero in the Community High School Theatre Company production of Shakespeare's "The Tempest," being presented at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the school. Students have been working on the production since September. Others in the case include: Barbara Lennington as Miranda; Scott Foster, Ferdinand; Sebastian Wreford, Trinculo; Jan Dewitt, Stephano; Glenn Bolling, Gonzalo; Matt Fulton, Alonso; Neil Carpenter, Antonio; Ken Stewart, Sebastian; Laurel Avery, Adrian; and David Stucky, the Boatswain. The Community High Chamber Ensemble, led by Julie Heirich, and the Community High Dancers will perform, too. Tamar Lauffer and Lisa Warren will play the flute in the play, directed and produced by Betsy King. Tickets will be $3.50 for adults, $2 for students.
