New Look: This new façade on the Western Union Telegraph Co. office at 122 E. Huron St. and the new marquee above the adjacent Allenel Hotel entry were both recently completed and have given the area across from the County Building a more modern, refined look. Modern store fronts are being urged by the Chamber of Commerce.

Hotel's New Banquet Room Completed: This new dining room on the Allenel Hotel's second floor has been completed for use as a dining place for local clubs and as a banquet room. The remodeling program also provided new lighting and interior decorating for a smaller adjoining room, to be used for the same purposes. Part of the space in the larger room was formerly occupied by the Ann Arbor Town Club, which was moved earlier this year to first floor space in the building fronting on S. Fourth Ave.

Landmark Being Replaced: Modern, low-slung aluminum marquees will replace this Huron St. overhang on the Allenel Hotel and a similar one on S. Fourth Ave. Both of the several-generation landmarks are being torn down.
