JCC Guardsmen practice grenade tossing, September 1942 Photographer: Eck Stanger

Published In:
Ann Arbor News, February 3, 1974

From Our Pictorial Archives: Ann Arbor 1942: We should publish this picture and ask readers to guess what these young Ann Arbor men were doing back in September 1942. They weren't "dancing on the green," as their silhouettes might indicate. It was still early in World War II, and members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce were being instructed in grenade tossing in the event the "home guard" might be called upon to help repel an invasion.
