WHITE WHALE AND FRIENDS: Forsythe Junior High School had a "whale of a class" yesterday afternoon. Members of the fifth-hour physical education class and their teacher, Mrs. Catherine Tank, pose with their snow sculpture of a whale which took them 20 minutes to make. Their snow sculpture project substituted for sledding.

Three Forsythe Junior High students prepared to cast their votes last Tuesday for their school's representatives to the Washtenaw County Boys-Girls Government Program. The students used a real "live" voting machine, obtained by the Student Council from the Ann Arbor City Hall. Twenty-two boys and girls from Forsythe won the right to participate in the Government Day Thursday, each taking over one of the county offices for a day. From left are: Frances Kerstholt, Erica Sands, Yvonne Taylor, Chris Shallhorn, and (seated) Pam Dalitz and Jackie Lucas. A total of about 400 students in schools in the area participated in the 14th annual program.

'SUZZY' AND FRIENDS: A fox squirrel befriended by students in the biology and science classes at Forsythe Junior High School has in turn repaid the compliment by becoming their mascot. "Suzzy," discovered with his leg in a splint by two Forsythe students, is shown receiving attention from (from left) Richard Palmer, student teacher; John Iverson, eighth grade science student, and Tom Colvin, ninth grade biology student. "Suzzy" not only likes to be fed nuts, but he likes the students to crack them for him. Students removed the splint, the source of which has not been determined.

LEARNING LATIN: A group of 13 students at Forsythe Junior High School participated in an eight-week course of programmed learning in Latin this summer at the University of Michigan as set by Prof. Waldo E. Sweet. Pictured above are a few of the students with their teacher, Prof. William Dickermann, who are continuing the same type of course daily at Forsythe this fall. The group presented six dances, each one demonstrating an area in which Americans are thankful.
