S' Long Doug... After a combined total of 11 years in the Kimberly family, carrier route No. 54 will be given up tomorrow by its laterst owner, Douglas C. Kimberly, age 16. Doug will graduate from Ann Arbor High School in 1969 and plans on entering college. Asked what he liked best about his News route, Doug replied, "mostly the people I met" (he had about 80 customers) ... "and I liked the money I earned with which I bought clothes and school books. I earned about $54 a month, and spent only about an hour a day on my route." The business experience Doug gained from his route will help him in his future. He learned to budget his money, and how to buy at wholesale and sell at retail, how to deal with all kinds of people ... and he discovered that carrying The Ann Arbor News encouraged him to read more and keep up on the news. Doug's experiences are typical of most carriers. It's been a good 11 years with you and the rest of the Kimberlys, Doug .. good luck, and thanks. THE ANN ARBOR NEWS
