Preparing For Big Barbecue: St. Francis Men's Club members, assisted by some young volunteers, prepare to raise the tent housing some of their equipment for the church's annual chicken barbecue Sunday on the E. Stadium church grounds. Thousands of dinners will be served at the public "drive-in" event beginning at noon. Proceeds from the affair are used for youth activities.

Preparing for Barbecue: St. Francis Church Men's Club members, some of them under the canvas propping it up, erect a tent on the E. Stadium church grounds in preparation for their third annual chicken barbecue from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday. More than 4,000 persons are expected at the barbecue, which is open to the public. Proceeds go for Men's Club activities for children of the parish and the neighborhood.

Stadium Blvd. and Winchell Dr. Proceeds from the event will go to the church's area youth program. The barbecue, open to the public, begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday. A tent has been pitched at the site in case of rain, and take-out orders will be accepted.

These chickens have reached the last half hour of their slow broiling and are ready for frequent bastings with Mrs. Bush's special sauce. They will be ready and waiting when the guests arrive.
