A Baseball First: Ceremonial "first pitches" have been made by all sorts of dignitaries and in all sorts of ways for many years. But Babe Ruth League officials came up with something new for yesterday's semi-final action at Ferry Field. Bob Feller, the former Cleveland mound great, made the throw from a helicopter. And that's a "first" in baseball. The pitch was made from over the grand stand, back of the press box, and wasn't seen by many fans. But the toss was true and right to the plate. After the throw, the helicopter was set down in right field to permit Feller to alight and take part in further ceremonies. The former Big League star saw both semi-final games.
