Candidates on the county slate of the Progressive party were certified yesterday for placement on the ballot at the Nov. 2 general election. The candidates, with the positions for which they were nominated, are: Back row, left to right, Kenneth Martin, sheriff; Rev. David. A. Blake, jr., state representative, Second District; Jack Geist, congressman, Second Michigan District; Bret Miller, state representative, First District; and Gustave Maschke, drain commissioner. Front row, again left to right, are Mrs. Xenia Meader, county clerk; Mrs. Mae Ava Phillips, register of deeds; and Mrs. Alice M. Sloss, coroner. The candidates were chosen at the party's county convention and were certified by the party's state committee.

Pastor Archie Criglar of Bethel AME Church in Ann Arbor delivered his sermon last Sunday while togged out as a colonial. Bethel was celebrating its founding, and so church leaders decided to dress up for the occasion.
