Tree of Symbols This towering Christmas tree, decorated with "Chrismons," gets its final touches, from Mrs. Godfrey Hoeft, left, and Alma Miller, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Women of the church made the "Chrismons" during the past year. The word comes from "Christ" and "monograms." Ancient church symbols are represented in the tree decorations, such as the cross, fish, manger, alpha and omega, serpent and cross, and the circle, representing eternity.
