The children are quieter and more relaxed than at other times, and they are encouraged to talk about anything that's on their minds, according to the teacher pictured, Mrs. Anne Shain.

It takes lots of activity to hold the attention of the Jones pre-schoolers, and Mrs. Betty Powell leads them in songs with plenty of pantomime movement. As busy as they seem compared with older singing groups, sitting on the floor for music is actually one of their "quiet" times which they seem to enjoy.

Watching the gold fish swim is fun, but feeding and caring for them is a special responsibility for students in the Jones Preschool program. Scooping fish up with a net and placing them in temporary containers while the bowl is cleaned is an experience the children could not enjoy if they had an aquarium with lots of fish and equipment.
