THREE SCHOLASTIC GRIDDERS WHO WILL BE BUSY NEXT TUESDAY: Here are three high school football players who will be busy in opposing backfields at Wines Field next Tuesday night when U High and St. Thomas hook up in the first of what is expected to become an annual football series. Irish backs on the right are Jim Hiller (left) and Larry Schnebelt while the high-kicking gentleman on the left is U High's Dude Stephenson. Hiller and Schnebelt work the halfback posts for St. Thomas while Stephenson usually lines up in the tailback spot for U High. All three men are apt to be in there most of the time next Tuesday since neither U High Coach Les Heidamos nor St. Thomas Mentor Jeep Mehaffey boasts much depth and thus neither does much substituting. This is the first year University High has fielded a football team so this is the first year St. Thomas and the Cubs have met in gridiron strife. But the game already has commanded considerable interest among Ann Arbor fans.
