Melvin Harris, age 10 (in checked shirt), and Jerry Yarrington, also 10 (dark shirt and sweater), helped Community Center Director Walter Hill check out the facilities at Camp Takona earlier this year. In the picture above they look over the bunk rooms for campers, and at right, top picture, examine the main hall of the camp. As can be seen, both structures will require major rehabilitation, for which the Center will mount a fund drive within the community. But the outdoor facilities, including the fire pit and council ring at right above and the beach area at right, will be immediately usable for the day camp programs the Center will begin to run starting tomorrow.
